My '47 Ford Truck

This is my '47 Ford truck. I bought it a couple years ago for a prop for Senior Portraits. It was kind of funny, when I brought it back to the studio and put it on our lawn I had people stopping in wanting to buy it. It took me a long time to find this truck, and to have it be something I could afford (antiques are expensive) and something close to me I wasn't going to part with it right away.

This year we parked it away from the road, just out of sight so every "I'm gonna fix up an old truck guy" wouldn't have the urge to stop in and ask me if I wanted to sell it. Never the less, two guys in a Pick-up stopped in yesterday to look it over and ask me if it was for sell. NOPE!

I love the shape of the hood, and all the curves in the body of the truck.

Child Portraiture Maggie

Maggie came to the studio to celebrate her 1st birthday. What a treat to photograph such ahappy little girl. Maggie's mother had come to the studio years ago for her Senior Portraits. Pumpkin Festival in Damariscotta Maine

Damariscotta, Maine hosts a pumpkin festival in the fall. It's truly a fun family festival. Activities include carving pumpkins, eating pumpkin products, a parade, pumpkin chuckin', and the crowd favorite, pumpkin boat races. How do you race pumpkins? You grow a huge pumpkin, we're talking pumpkins that weigh over 1,000 lbs. You hollow them out, get inside and go. They race with paddles and with motors. Although the crowd grows every year, the number of people who get in the pumpkin remains small. I think the chilly Atlantic is a deterrent. I took some photos of the pumpkins, but there is a lot more to see at the Damariscotta Pumpkin Festival. Plan on going next October.

Donna and Ken Camden Maine Wedding

Donna and Ken live in Texas and fell in love with Camden, Maine while on vacation. They came back a year later to get married. You could kind of say they eloped although they brought a few family members with them.

An overcast and rainy weekend, but Camden still is beautiful.
The church in the background is the one they were married in. The Chestnut Street Baptist Church.

The gang from Texas found it just a little bit chilly here in October.

Wentworth Charities - Samoset Resort Maine

This weekend we were at the Samoset Resort in Rockport, Maine. They were hosting the 14th annual Wentworth Charities Golf Tournament, raising money to fight Tuberous Sclerosis and Cystic Fibrosis. This was an awesome group of people. Having fun, and raising money for a good cause.

Friday evening's dinner was by the Samoset's new pool. The fire pit added a warm inviting glow to a chilly evening. From the pool you can see both the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse and the Owls Head Lighthouse ( to the left on the point of land)

A few of the teams we photographed in the morning, handing out 5x7 prints in the afternoon.

Saturday night's entertainment was Dueling Pianos. If you ever have a chance to go see them, don't miss them, they are terrific!

Sunday's weather was a little damp, but everyone was still having a good time.

Point Lookout Wedding

Nicole and Shawn booked us for the wedding over a year in advance. They planned out every detail of the wedding themselves. The wedding and reception was at Point Lookout in Ducktrap Harbor, next to Lincolville, Maine. We went to The Edge to take a few photos by the water. There were so many photo opportunities at The Edge.

The ring bearer and flower girl enjoyed riding in the limo. They were always the first ones in.

Ice Hockey ..... again

We photograph hundreds of ice hockey players every season. Here is a banner with our hockey action photos for our local hockey club, Maine Coast Skaters Association. We're located at the Midcoast Recreation Center in Rockport, Maine. If you every thought about playing hockey, find a rink near you. Its so much fun. I've been playing on the women's league for about 7 years. Its great exercise and we have a lot of laughs.

Carrie and Tim had a lovely wedding and reception at the Greystone Manor in Cape Neddick. Even though it poured of rain it didn't damper the fun and excitment of the day. Everyone had a great time. When your with friends and family the weather just doesn't matter!

Camden Schooner Festival 2009

This weekend the town of Camden hosted the Schooner Festival. It was a lot of fun and the weather cooperated. On Saturaday they had a lober crate race which is always a crowd favorite.

The contestant had to run across the crates and get to the other side. If you make it to the other side you turn around and come back. The person who can cross the most crates win. This young man was the winner, making it look like a cake walk.
Everyone has their own style, some wear socks, others just their sneakers, but the serious ones wear water shoes. Most don't get very far, but everyone has fun.
One Sunday the build-a-boat race took place. You have one day to build a boat out of two sheets of plywood and some adhesive. As you can see there were plenty of designs. (some not designed well)

Saturday night the library hosted a movie, "Captains Courageous" in the amphitheater. It was very neat to be sitting in the very same place they filmed the movie. There is a scene in the movie where the characters are in the amphitheater. It was the perfect night for an outdoor movie.

Maine Wild Blueberry Queen

With the end of August comes the Union Fair. Every year they crown a "Maine Wild Blueberry Queen." This year's Queen is Lakeisha Allen of Penobscot, Maine. Her portrait will hang on the wall with all the other past Queens, I believe dating as far back as the late 60's. Fenn Fotographics has taken the Queen's photo for the past 22 years! Maria is 2. She is beautiful, very smart and a joy to photograph. I love her smile and her curls. We took advantage of the sunny day and went outside. What could be better than running around in the grass barefoot? Photographing children keeps you moving. We played some games to make sure she was having fun and to encourage smiles!!

Sara and Scott --- Bristol Maine Wedding --- 1812 Farm Reception

Scott and Sara have beautiful weather for their wedding in Bristol, Maine. There was a hurricane off the coast of Maine which produced show-stopping surf at Pemaquid Lighthouse.

Scott was a good sport for posing for all these photos in his black tux in almost 100 degree weather. Well, it beats rain.
The wedding party was a fun group to be around. Thanks for making my job easy!
Since Sara grew up just down the road from this lighthouse she wanted to take some photos there. Of course the wedding day was way to busy for a trip to the lighthouse, so I met the bride and groom there the next day for a mini photo shot with the lighthouse.

The 1812 Farm in Bristol is a beautiful venue for a reception ( or any party). The inside is breathtaking and the grounds are impeccable. There is so much room to move around and mingle with guests. The expansive lawn behind the farmhouse is the perfect place for the children to run and play or for you to take a stroll to the pond. The food is expertly catered and the staff of the 1812 Farm are top rate.

I Love Sunflowers

They make you happy just by standing there in your flower garden watching things.

I saw this bee working hard collecting pollen. I got fairly close and he didn't mind at all.

He was just to busy to worry about me. With the amount of pollen on his legs, I guess

he's on his way back home soon.

The pattern on the sunflower is just beautiful. Have you ever taken the time to LOOK at the patterns on the sunflower and how the seeds are neatly packed into the center? Mother Nature is truley talented.

Marshall Point Light in Port Clyde was the location for Dylan's photo shoot. Dylan goes to school in Skowhegan, but wanted his photos taken at a location that would stand out from the other Seniors at his school. Family Portrait at Pemaquid Lighthouse

Summer in Maine! What could be better? Here is a family portrait I did for Christine and Brendon from Virginia. I like to photograph on location in the evening, just before the sun sets. We were lucky to not have to many tourists in our photos as there were a lot of people there enjoying the evening as well. If we do get some people in the background, I'll retouch them out.

I couldn't leave without taking a picture of the lighthouse by itself. The light just started coming on for the night. This lighthouse is the lighthouse on the Maine State quarter.

Coast Guard Ship visits Rockland

I had a chance to tour the US Coast Guard Ship Eagle on Friday with a reception hosted by Linda L. Bean. (Yes thats L. L. Bean's granddaughter) It is a beautiful ship, heres so info about the ship and a couple pictures.

U.S. Coast Guard Academy Training Ship: The Eagle offers future officers (cadets) the opportunity to put into practice the navigation, engineering, and other professional theory they have previously learned in the classroom. Upper class trainees exercise leadership and service duties normally handled by junior officers, while underclass trainees fill crew positions of a junior enlisted person, such as helm watches at the huge wooden wheels used to steer the vessel. Everyone who trains on Eagle experiences a character building experience.

Originally built to train German U-Boat crews the United States Coast Guard Tall Ship Eagle is one of five sister ships built for sail training in Germany in the 1930’s. Eagle was handed over to the United States as reparation following World War II and the Coast Guard took her over as a training ship.

Named the Horst Wessel, when she was built in Germany in 1936, she was one of three identical vessels ordered by Adolf Hitler as training ships for naval cadets. They were not built to train sailors, but to covertly train U-Boat crews. The three ships were constructed, with their engine rooms and frames exactly like the U-Boats that would soon terrorize the open sea. Eventually, a total of five of these ships were built, for the soul purpose of training submarine crews.

Commissioned by Hitler himself, the Horst Wessel was home ported in Kiel on the Baltic Sea. During the war she operated as a cargo ship, while continuing to train U-Boat crews. Credited with three kills, downing Russian aircraft, and one friendly fire incident where a German war plane was downed by her deck guns.

After the war, she was confiscated and brought to America. Russia, Portugal, Romania and West Germany took over the remaining four ships. The Horst Wessel came to America and was commissioned into the Coast Guard on May 15, 1946. With the German Captain and crew assisting on board, she was sailed to her new home port at New London.

She has a crew of 6 officers and 56 enlisted sailors. The Tall Ship Eagle sails with as many as 230 people on board when training. Over 200 lines must be coordinated during a major ship maneuver, and the cadets must learn the name and function of each. Each year taking a long cruise to the Caribbean, or Europe and a couple shorter ones around the east coast.

Hiking in Maine

My sister Tina and I went hiking the other day. The best thing about getting to the top is the view.

She had to wait for me because I was busy picking (and eating) blueberries along the way. The berries were just starting to turn, so I suspect I'll have to visit that mountain again, in about 3 weeks.

North Atlanatic Blues Festival Rockland Maine

There was good weather and a good turn out for the North Atlantic Blues Festival held here in Rockland, Maine July 11 and 12th. Rockland is home to many festivals during the summer including the most famous Lobster Festival held at the end of this month. Rockland boasts as being the Lobster Capital of the World.

Spruce Point Wedding

Can you believe it didn't rain during the wedding. I had thoughts of being wet most of the day trying to photograph with a bag over my camera but to my surprise the rain held off. Albie and Lindsey had a great day at Spruce Point Inn with the ceremony as close to the water as you can get. The first photo is one of my favs. It just says it all

We photographed the Rockland District High School Prom at the Owls Head Transportation Museum. If you've never been to the museum you should go, its wonderful.

The museum was transformed into a Masquerade theme and everyone looked awesome. We used one of the antique cars for a prop.

Rock Maple Racing Snow Cross at Black Mountain of Maine

Had a great weekend at Black Mountain of Maine watching and photographing the Rock Maple Racing Snow Cross and X Game trials. Although we specialize in wedding photography - we do a lot more things and our racing photos have to be among the most exciting. It is truly awesome to watch these sleds fly through the air. All ages and skill levels are represented - from 5-6 years old through pro level. The kids are lots of fun but the pros make like a bird over the jumps - flying 20 feet or more into the air. Moose Poop at Fenn Fotographics

Every job seems crappy sometimes but this one really takes the cake!!! One of our regular customers sells moose poop in all kinds of creative ways. My wife Kim spent the last few days photographing poop. This is no ordinary poop but is in fact real moose poop from the woods of Maine. Right now I'm getting ready to photograph the Rock Maple Racing Snow Cross Dec. 15-16 at Black Mountain in Rumford Maine. This will be a great show and with this race being an X Games qualifier the racers are sure to go all out. Look for photos posted Monday or Tuesday.
